Volunteer role

Farsi Class Aide

Help children read the language of their grandparents in our Saturday classes. Patience matters more than fluency.

About the role

A language goes quiet one unspoken word at a time. In our Saturday classes, children learn to read and speak Farsi — and you help them. You do not need to be a teacher or even fluent; you need patience, encouragement, and a willingness to sit beside a child as they sound out their first words.

What you'll do
  • Assist the lead teacher in weekend Farsi classes
  • Work one-on-one with children who need support
  • Help prepare simple materials and activities
  • Keep the room warm, safe, and encouraging
What you bring
  • Patience and kindness with children
  • Some Farsi — fluency is welcome but not required
  • Reliability on Saturdays
  • A background check (we help arrange it)
What we provide
  • Lesson plans and a lead teacher to follow
  • Training in working with young learners
  • A meaningful weekly rhythm
  • Verification of service hours
